Finn Creaney (32) was last seen around 2.15 pm on Friday, March 25th, 2022 at Altnaharra in Sutherland on the B873 road near Loch Naver. Early reporting suggests Finn was dropped off there. The married father of two had gone hiking with a plan to travel from Loch Naver to Golspie (Scotland.) When Finn failed to show up he was officially reported missing on March 28th.
Finn is happily married to Lucy, with a daughter and now a son. At the time Finn went missing his wife was pregnant and they had just discovered the baby was a boy, which Lucy described as "a dream come true for Finn."
Finn loved hiking and being outdoors and would occasionally film himself. He was known to be an experienced bushcraft enthusiast, and according to his father Mark, he was also a "really strong swimmer" and experienced in wild swimming.
Once he had been reported missing, his father along with others conducted searches in the hills in the areas that Finn might have travelled, and sadly nothing was discovered. Then two deerstalkers discovered Finn's backpack on the side of Loch Naver. Mark reported that he believed Finn had tried to swim the loch to cut down on his journey to the coast. When referencing Finn's belongings in the backpack he also made mention of "a few other items that we can't really get into now."
Finn's wife Lucy described the last time she saw Finn: "The last time I saw him was on the 25th of March at this house. We all had a lovely family hug together and then off he went. 'I'll see you on Sunday.' It was just, you know, normal."
The police have conducted multiple searches, including having divers search the loch where his backpack was found. However, nothing has been found.
Finn is described as 5ft 11in tall, of slim build, with light complexion and freckles on his arms and nose. He has long brown hair down to his lower back and a full brown beard which is short in length. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, a long, brown leather jacket which goes down to his knees, dark-coloured trousers, brown waterproof boots. He was carrying a green rucksack.
