On the 22nd of October, 2009, Holly Bringan (2) was reported missing by her father, police officer Douglas Bringan, after repeated attempts to contact her mother Salena failed.
Selena Dingwall, who had also worked for the police, and Douglas Bringan had gone through a bitter divorce in 2007. Douglas had decided on the spilit, and he had regular visits with his daughter. No sign of Selena or her daughter Holly, has been found since. They were from Irvine, North Ayrshire, Scotland, it's been reported that Selena was planning a new life in Bristol — but that she could now be anywhere in the UK.
Detectives have theorised that Salena may have used her skills to disappear and set up a new life for herself and her daughter. Superintendent Jim Coubrough said: “Salena has a knowledge of finances and technology, and has managed to create another life for herself — which in this day and age is quite unusual.”
At just 2 years old at the time of her disappearance, Holly Bringan is Scotland's youngest ever missing person.
