On the 30th January, 2009, Ryan Quinn (14) was chased onto a railway line after an argument with a group of teenagers. It's beleived he had been seriously assaulted earlier that night. Moments before being struck and killed instantly by a train, Ryan had made a desperate call to his father for help. He become trapped on the line and train was unable to stop.
Earlier that day Ryan had taken a bus from Coleraine to Portrush, where he met relatives before going to a family birthday party at McLaughlin’s Bar in the seaside town. He was at McLaughlin’s Bar between 21:00 and 23:00, and anyone who had been there at the time has been urged to come forward.
In 2011 The Public Prosecution Service told the family of Ryan Quinn that there was not enough evidence against two suspects.
